Governor’s Arts Award Winner

Carbondale, Colorado is the proud recipient of the 2012 Governor’s Arts Award!

A haven for dancers, painters, film-makers, blacksmiths, puppeteers, architects and creators of all kinds, it is no wonder that this little town is being recognized for it’s creative vitality.  From the ever popular Mountain Fair (sponsored by CCAH) and Main Street’s sculptural displays (brought to you by CPAC) to world class music offerings at PAC3, the town is filled with creative collaboration by community leaders, local businesses, and community members alike.  You are likely to see next door neighbors strutting their stuff down the runway at the Green is the New Black Fashion Show (also a CCAH event) and local youngsters getting their first shot at the limelight in Steve’s Guitars intimate listening room.  Fine art galleries and shops featuring locally crafted goods permeate the downtown core and make it an ideal destination for any art enthusiast.

Carbondale recognizes the value of arts and culture in its economy. The Town has started enlisting its imaginative and innovative leaders in planning and strategy discussions for the development of a Creative District that would highlight the Town’s local industries: agriculture and culinary delights, music, fine art, textiles and performance art.
