Food Landscapes

I was recently introduced to the book Food Landscapes by a friend’s six year old who was trying to stall bed time. The book worked; we proceeded to spend over an hour pouring through the photographs, trying to identify just how the author/artist Carl Warner had constructed these amazing landscapes.  For those of you new to the Carl Warner’s work as I was, he creates colorful and imaginative landscapes constructed entirely from fruits and vegetables, cheeses, breads, fish, meat, and grains.  The following are just a few of the 25 landscapes featured in this book.

  1. That looks like a really fun book. I could see how you would get wrapped up in it once you started trying to identify all the foods in the various landscapes.

you’ll be procrastinating bedtime for more than an hour!

  3. What I should also mention is that each “foodscape” is intended to depict a specific region of the world and is constructed from foods typically found in that region.
