CAMPUS PLANNING: University of Chicago

Hello all,

Compliments of ASLA’s Campus Planning and Design Professional Practice Network, we are highlighting another college campus:  Take the Tour!

This month’s Campus at a Glance is the University of Chicago which has one of the richest design heritages of any campus in America.  F.L. Olmsted’s Midway Plaisance is integrated with the campus and OC Simonds, Beatrix Farrand, and Olmsted Brothers have all played major roles in the evolution of the campus.  It is the quintessential Collegiate Gothic  campus.

To learn more about the campus/botanic garden landscape, read this great article featuring  PPN member Richard Bumstead. Make sure you check out the related links at the right side of the page too.
