Moore in the Gardens

Henry Moore Sculpture Exhibit at Denver Botanic Gardens

I decided to blow the dust off my camera and take a nice relaxing afternoon walk through the Henry Moore (1898-1986) Exhibit at the Botanic Gardens.  As I moved through the gardens, I found that the lack of foliage helped me to study and contemplate the sculptures without the distractions of all the plants with their name plates. For me, Moore’s organic forms provided the soothing and calming affect rather than the vibrant colors encountered later in the season.  His graceful, free flowing lines tempered the harsh barren landscape surrounding his works. It will be interesting to return once the gardens are in full bloom to see how the placement of the pieces within the different landscapes changes my perspective.

Denver Botanic Gardens presents a landmark exhibition of monumental works by the internationally acclaimed British sculptor, Henry Moore (1898-1986). This powerful exhibit highlights the inspiration Moore found in natural environments, emphasizing the relationship of humanity to the natural world.
